Empowerment for girls and women
Girls and women are exploited and abused in many parts of the world because of their gender. Our experience shows: When girls and women are given the chance to actively shape their future, hopeful perspectives unfold for them, but also for their whole environment. How we work in our projects
- We offer protection and comprehensive victim counselling for girls and women affected by violence and exploitation.
- We strengthen the right of girls and women to have a say.
- We promote the education of girls and women and support their income projects.
- We train parents, religious and traditional leaders, teachers, police and political leaders to speak out against child marriage in their communities.
- We support the establishment of girls' clubs. In a protected space, girls can overcome social isolation, exchange views on taboo subjects, acquire knowledge about sexual and reproductive health and learn about their rights.

Life without violence
Sexual assaults on women have contributed significantly to a higher HIV rate in Moçambique. Violence against girls and women is socially tolerated in Mozambique due to traditional gender roles. This must change!
Against sexual abuse
Every ten minutes a woman is raped in South Africa. Forty percent of under-18s are rape victims. In townships and rural areas they get no help. Our partner organisation provides a point of contact and publicly fights for more security from violent crime.
