Far away shot of the football stadium in St. Petersburg

Do football and human rights actually go together?

With the World Cup in Russia, the next major sporting event is just around the corner. Once the first game is kicked off, it is easy to forget that these events can have a serious, negative impact on the local population. A high-profile panel discussion will highlight what the real problems are and look for possible solutions. We would be delighted to meet you on 7 June in the Neubad!

For the preparations for the World Cup in Russia and Qatar, human rights for the construction of stadiums are sometimes tied back, if not suspended. And in other parts of the world, too, a look behind the glittering scenes is needed to understand the impact and power of sport. This is why the new stadium in Lucerne will be dedicated to the subject of football and human rights from 5 to 7 June.

Consequences for people and sport
At the panel discussion co-organised by terre des hommes schweiz, we will take a look behind the media illusory world of the World Cup. The discussion group is made up of top-class international speakers and promises an exciting exchange.
