With its Climate Roadmap, the terre des hommes schweiz / Terre des Hommes Suisse alliance presents a joint roadmap to halve the organizations' CO2 emissions by 2030 and thus contribute to a safer future and environment for future generations.
Climate change is a threat to future generations. Young people in Switzerland also no longer want to stand idly by. On 21 May, the time has come again: the Climate Youth calls for a Strike for Future. The next opportunity to get involved against climate change is already in June: on 13 June, the new CO2 law will be voted on.
Large corporations like Syngenta and Bayer are harming the environment and the health of countless people with their agrochemicals and pesticides, that has recently become clear. On June 13, 2021, the CO2 law will be put to the vote, which terre des hommes switzerland supports in the Climate Alliance Switzerland. With the federal law on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, Switzerland can take a pioneering role for international climate justice. Because the consequences of climate change are also clear for the young people in our projects in the global south
On 9 and 10 June, the National Council will discuss the new CO2 Act, which is intended to set the course of Swiss climate policy for the coming years. Climate change is destroying the development prospects of millions of young people worldwide. We urgently need measures to avert the climate catastrophe and ensure climate justice. This is what we are calling for together with the Swiss Climate Alliance.
