We are committed to building a fair world – with a commitment to diversity, responsible communication and a safe working environment.
Together with other organisations and networks, we stand up for the rights of young people and young adults. We stand for democratic participation and combat the increasing inequality and polarisation in our society. We hold decision-makers accountable.
We see diversity as a strength, we respect different perspectives, contexts and experiences of people who work at and with terre des hommes schweiz. We work with all people who share our values, regardless of their gender, age, background, religion, social status or sexual orientation, as well as physical and cognitive abilities. We leave no one behind.
Creativity, enjoyment and fun are fundamental to personal, social and organisational development. We are open to new ideas and try things out. We promote collaborative learning between generations and cultures.
At terre des hommes schweiz, we follow clear principles to create a fairer world. Our way of working is based on long-term partnerships, responsible communication and a high degree of transparency and mindfulness. We have clear standards in place and are committed to the protection and well-being of the people in our programs.
Open communication and transparency are key components of our work. We attach great importance to presenting our finances and the impact of our projects clearly and comprehensibly. Should violations or misconduct occur, we ask that you inform us immediately by email so that we can take appropriate measures.
The well-being of our employees, partner organisations and the young people we support is our top priority. We create inclusive and safe spaces that enable trusting collaboration. With a particular focus on mental and physical safety, we promote a healthy and respectful working environment.
terre des hommes schweiz does not tolerate any form of abuse of power, sexual exploitation, harassment or bullying in its work context. All employees and partner organisations have signed a binding code of conduct that sets high standards for the protection and respectful treatment of one another.
The organisation investigates all reported violations of its child and youth protection policy, its anti-corruption guidelines and its guidelines for the prevention of sexual exploitation, harassment and bullying. All reported cases are treated confidentially and data protection is guaranteed.
Employees, young people from the programs, partner organisations and external parties can report observed misconduct anonymously and securely – either via the internal address ethics@terredeshommes.ch or via the independent platform www.ombudspersons.ch.
This independent contact point works on a voluntary basis, does not report to the Board of Directors of terre des hommes schweiz and is subject to a duty of confidentiality. Once a year, an anonymised report is submitted to the Board of Directors to ensure transparent monitoring of the working methods.
Together with other Swiss non-governmental organisations (NGOs), we have committed to ethical and respectful communication with the Manifesto for Responsible Communication.
Our aim is to uphold the dignity of people in the Global South and to promote a positive image of development cooperation in Switzerland. In our public relations work, we present the people we work with as capable actors, who contribute valuable resources and skills, and avoid stereotypical portrayals.
