Poverty, violence and HIV/Aids are widespread in Tanzania. Many children and young people are left to fend for themselves or have to look after their sick parents. Together with our local partner organisations, we strengthen these young people’s so that they are better able to deal with these stressful circumstances.
In the Kigoma region, many girls and women are exposed to domestic violence and often sexual assault. This leads to high rates of HIV/Aids and teenage pregnancies . With our partner organization Kividea we strengthen the resilience and skills of young people so that they know their rights and can lead a healthy life. We also support young mothers with education and the promotion of income-generating initiatives.
Tanzania faces many social and economic challenges. Many people suffer from the consequences of HIV/Aids, violence and early pregnancies. Young people in particular, who have lost their parents, often lack the necessary life skills.
