To reach new donors, we are taking to the streets. We are currently on the road in the Zurich region and are advertising our projects on doorsteps. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions about our work directly. But beware: there are also scammers out and about posing as fundraisers. We will show you how to recognize the right employees at terre des hommes schweiz.
Dany Demuth, Private Donor Support
We rely on supporters to finance our projects. We regularly look for new donors: in addition to appealing for donations by letter, we do this through personal contact. Together with Emika GmbH, we send employees to the neighborhoods and communities, where they go from door to door to present our work. This allows them to explain the work we do on site and answer questions directly. The people concerned appreciate this personal contact, and our dialogers enjoy the many conversations with the newly committed supporters.
Recognize fictitious fundraisers
Unfortunately, such important campaigns are abused by criminals who carry out fictitious fundraisers. Tageswoche warns against fraudulent fundraisers who pretend to be charity representatives. The fraudsters are usually very rude, carry poor documentation and push for a direct “cash donation”, which no ZEWO-certified aid organization would do.
The following points will help you to recognize whether someone is actually operating on behalf of terre des hommes schweiz:
- We do NOT collect cash. Our employees will fill out a pledge form with you, in which you decide to make a recurring donation by payment slip or direct debit. The pledge can of course be terminated at any time and without giving reasons.
- Our employees can identify themselves. The ID card also states that they work for us.
- Our brochure is written in error-free German and will be given to you when you make a commitment. On the back of the brochure you will find our telephone number and our web address.
- Our employees are polite and provide information about our work without pressure. If you do not wish to make a commitment, simply let the person concerned know. They will thank you politely for your time and say goodbye.
