Never before have so many people worldwide been on the run from war and violence. Often it is the most affected who have no possibility to reach a safe country. The isolation of Europe further exacerbates the situation of these people. This is why we support the petition "For safe and legal escape routes to Switzerland".
Almost 66 million people worldwide are on the run. 12 million Syrians alone have lost their homes. The majority of the refugees live under unworthy conditions in countries that are overwhelmed by the large number of refugees. Human rights state that all people who are in need of protection and seek refuge for themselves and their families have the right to protection of life and limb. They must have the possibility to apply for asylum in a safe country. However, the routes to Europe, including access to a regular asylum application, are becoming increasingly dangerous due to the ever-increasing isolation of Europe.
