On the right track: thousands reached

The last few years have been eventful for terre des hommes switzerland and its partner organisations in Tanzania: 20 000 children and young people were reached by the partner organisations with their commitment in 2012 alone. After years of pioneering work, especially in the field of psychosocial support, terre des hommes schweiz receives good marks for its commitment in Tanzania.
Markus Bütler, Programme Coordinator Tanzania

terre des hommes switzerland has been active in Tanzania for over 20 years. Much has been achieved during this time. Especially in the last three years the country programme Tanzania has successfully developed: In 2009, terre des hommes schweiz supported five projects of different partner organisations, at the end of 2012 it was their eight. Statistically speaking, in 2012 alone, a good 20,000 beneficiaries, mostly children and young people, were reached in various ways. Behind this figure lies a multifaceted commitment involving a wide range of actors.

Good grades
Especially in the field of psychosocial support, terre des hommes schweiz, in cooperation with its partner organisations in Tanzania, has so far done a lot of pioneering work: Milestones of recent years are the solution-oriented approach initiated by terre des hommes schweiz and the project "World in Books", which have triggered a promising development dynamic and are now attracting great international interest.

External evaluations have also shown that the work of terre des hommes schweiz in Tanzania is having an impact - and not least the SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation): it visited terre des hommes schweiz projects in Tanzania in November 2012 and has since attested the country programme good quality and great relevance.
