Sexual violence still accepted in South Africa

Every ten minutes a woman is raped in South Africa. Almost every second young woman under 18 has been raped once. Our partner organization LifeLine supports the victims and carries out major prevention work in South Africa. Sinikiwe Biyela, Director of LifeLine Pietersmaritzburg, will visit us on April 7 and will report on the work of LifeLine.

Centro Sabia helps shape government programme

The Brazilian state of Pernambuco is the first federal state to adopt a policy on "sustainable living in drought" in March 2013. This is a great success for our partner organisation Centro Sabiá, which has been politically promoting the adopted methods for years.

LeMuSiCa raises public awareness with dance

A funeral wreath, a street parade and a dance performance in the style of One Billion Rising: with these actions, terre des hommes Switzerland's partner organisation LeMuSiCa launched the action days "16 days against violence against women" on 25 November. Three further events are to follow.

Bogota's mayor against forced recruitment

The armed conflict between rebels and the military in Colombia also affects many young people, who are often drafted into military service against their will. ACOOC, a partner organisation of terre des hommes schweiz which campaigns against conscription and for the right to conscientious objection to military service, now receives important political support from the mayor of the Colombian capital Bogota, Gustavo Petro.

imagine 2013: All bands are known

The programme for the imagine festival in Basel on 7/8 June has been fixed! The names of the 19 bands who will play on Barfüsserplatz and Klosterhof stage have been announced this week. The line-up also includes more well-known bands such as the group Mo Blanc, which was nominated for the Swiss Music Award 2013.
