Just a moment ago there was still a market and a short time later everything is ready: The imagine festival is already in the starting blocks. Next weekend (June 12th/13th) we from terre des hommes schweiz can look forward to a concentrated load of music and youth culture. The motto "Counter-movement: Encounter opens up a lot of scope and, surprisingly, invites you to all kinds of encounters.
Do you know the group NØ MERCY from Glarus? NØ MERCY is a small group of teenagers and young adults we did not know before. Nevertheless, on 23.03.2015 Markus Bütler and Sascha Tankerville were allowed to accept a check worth 4050 Swiss francs. Many thanks for the support!
Fourteen years ago the youth project imagine was launched. Since then it has grown internationally. Ten years ago the first partner project in Brazil was added. Today, it comprises four youth groups on three continents, who work together to promote more respect and less discrimination.
A brief look at imagine international Colombia by Xenia Jehli, Organizing Committee imagine international.
On the evening of 8 January 2015, an assassination attempt was made on the president of one of our partner organisations in Colombia. While he was fortunately not injured, the unknown men hit his driver with two shots to the head. The attack came as no surprise, as a member of the board of Unidad de Organizaciones Afrocaucanas (UOAFROC) had previously been appointed as a military target.
We have launched a crowdfunding project for small cinemas in Peru: We would like to raise at least 2500 francs. This money will enable young people to build micro-cinemas in their communities. This enables them to offer affordable entertainment in poor districts and villages, while at the same time promoting social exchange between people and thus strengthening their identity.
Totally unnoticed by the public, dramatic scenes still took place shortly before the final game of the World Cup. Protests in Rio de Janeiro were nipped in the bud with an extremely large contingent of security forces. It was clearly visible: at no cost should critical voices spoil the big farewell party.
While the Colombian national team continues its unwavering storming during the World Cup, a bloody fan war is raging in the football arenas in Colombia. Often a wrong look is enough to turn a triviality into deadly seriousness. The project "Football Fans Against Violence" contributes to the suppression of the culture of violence from football. The message to the fans is: sport is not a fight.
The Barfüsserplatz is still sleeping. But that will soon change. The imaginefestival will take place on the weekend (6/7 June). We at terre des hommes schweiz are looking forward to the concentrated load of music almost as much as the imagine-team itself and the motto "Simply variety!" gives hope for surprises off the stage
For terre des hommes schweiz, the beginning of June is always a special time. That is when the imaginefestival takes place. The commitment and creativity with which the young people from imagine deal with socially relevant topics is impressive every year. On Friday, the imagine-Team published the programme and has musical delicacies in store for the visitors.
