Many young people with a refugee background are under enormous psychological pressure in Switzerland. In addition to xenophobia, uncertainty as to whether they will be allowed to stay in Switzerland, culture shock and the language barrier, traumatic experiences weigh heavily on these young people. High time for a power-up in the picturesque Jura. In the MePower workshop, young refugees learn about their strengths and resources.
Health and safety come first: In view of the Corona pandemic, the imagine crew has decided to cancel the imagine festival in June. Instead, "a big kick-off to the anniversary year" will take place this fall, imagine says. Next year, the project by young people for young people will have a round birthday. The anniversary edition of the imagine festival is scheduled to take place on the 4th and
imagine - this is not only a festival for more tolerance, which brings great musical acts to Basel every year in June. Roger Gafner from terre des hommes schweiz presents the project by young people for young people, for almost 20 years now a creative laboratory for cooperation in our society.
A year has passed so quickly and again the impressive festival of the imaginary young people awaits us this coming weekend. Completely organized by the young people themselves, the program once again leaves nothing to be desired. We are looking forward to enriching this event with the photo box. Will you visit us there?
Invitation:
Do you know how young refugees experience our city? In which places are they staying and why? With city tours, young refugees and young people from our Swiss youth project explore together the city in which they live, but rarely meet each other in everyday life.
Since it became clear at the end of last year that the Barfüsserplatz would be rebuilt, the team of imagine had to rethink. A new festival place had to be found. The young people made a virtue out of necessity and that's why the imagine festival starts this Friday in the harbour area. A place like made for this occasion.
"Rarely consulted, often overlooked and often not fully involved in the decision-making process The talents, energy and potential of young refugees remain largely untapped. The young refugees want the same things that young people everywhere want: prospects, education, employment and inclusion. They want to get involved and be part of the solution."

A report by Barbara Noske and Sabin Müller
MM - Colombia's government and the FARC guerrillas today reached an agreement on a peace agreement that should put an end to more than 50 years of civil war. The NGOs of the Swiss peace promotion programme "Semillas de Esperanza" welcome the agreement as an important step, but at the same time stress that this is only the beginning.
Another year has passed and the imagine is just around the corner. The young people of the imagine team have come up with a lot of ideas about courage. Of course, we don't want to miss this and offer all festival visitors the opportunity to meet in the photo box and at tschuttiheftli swap meets.
