Projects in Zimbabwe
HIV/Aids is an enormous problem. Although the total number of those infected has reduced over the last decade from 26 to 15 %, and antiretroviral drugs are in principle available free of charge to all, the number of children and young people affected still remains very high. Those affected are at risk of social exclusion. Therefore they conceal their illness as long as possible – which once again makes prevention more difficult.
Living positively despite HIV/AIDS
More than sport: Football against HIV/AIDS
Sexual health and rights for young people from mining areas
The Zimbabwean mini-district of Bubi attracts people from all over the country. This has undoubtedly contributed to the rapid spread of HIV/Aids in Bubi, with one in five people already infected with HIV. However, those affected have hardly any access to medical help. Together with our local partner organisation BEKEZELA, we are working to prevent HIV/Aids and early pregnancies. Children and young people learn about their sexual rights and how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and early pregnancies.
